New Tas Oak flooring products available

Barwon Timber has two new exciting Brittons flooring products available to our customers!

Pre-finished flooring – and it’s solid timber!

The first is a prefinished Tasmanian Oak solid timber floor.  This product saves a lot of time by not requiring a sand and polish.  It is great for existing homes where occupants don’t want to move out for the sand and polish and for jobs that are difficult to get into – think apartments.

The flooring has a textured wire brush finish and micro bevel edges.   There are four colours available – brown, grey, lime wash and white.  Customers can also opt for a natural finish.

It comes in a 108×12 secret nail profile however by Australian Standard should be face fixed.  We have supplied pre-finished Tasmanian Oak to a regional school where our customer was working to a tight time frame.  The floor looks fantastic and with the correct maintenance will continue to impress for years to come.   From our customers experience, we recommend customers be careful when taping floor protection to the timber.  Tapes with strong adhesive can leave marks, however these can be fixed up with a repair paste and buffed into the affected area.

If you’d like to use pre-finished Tasmanian Oak for your next project, visit the Barwon Timber showroom team or discuss it with your account manager.

Wide board flooring

The second product is now in stock at Barwon Timber and it’s already a favourite.  185×14 solid Tasmanian Oak wide board flooring is here!  We will be offering the wide board flooring in Prime grade and occasionally will be fortunate enough to receive Utility grade stock.

The machining on this product is excellent and we are confident floor layers will be able to lay the wide board quickly and with minimal fuss.  The wide board flooring is pre-cambered to make it suitable for overlay flooring application.  Brittons developed the wide board product and tested it with the University of Tasmania.  The camber flattens out when installed correctly.  Whilst the flooring has a secret nail profile and Brittons have seen it successfully secret nailed, it is recommended the product be face fixed as per Australian Standard.

The length range for this product will typically fall between 0.9 – 2.7Lm, the minimum length is a bit longer than what we typically see in overlay flooring packs.   We will be installing a display of the 185×14 profile in our showroom.  If you would like to see the pack stock available, visit the Barwon Timber showroom.
