Barwon Timber has been supplying weatherboards for 45 years. During this time, we’ve seen an evolution of the weatherboard – from Baltic pine (which is still a favourite amongst our builders) to weatherboards manufactured from composite product and fibre cement.
Weatherboards were introduced into Australia in the 1850s. They quickly became popular due to their lightweight, weatherproof nature, affordability and ease of installation. They were used for a broad range of houses, including mid and late Victorian, Edwardian, Bungalow and some modern style houses.
We will take you through the timber weatherboards we supply. For customers wanting a weatherboards aesthetic without using timber, we have a range of composite and fibre cement products available. Visit our showroom to see the weatherboard options available at Barwon Timber.
Loved by Australians and widely used on our homes, Baltic Pine weatherboards remain a popular choice amongst our customers. Our Baltic Pine Weatherboards are available in two profiles – square and eased edge. They come primed and are easy to paint. Ensure you read the product information guide for installation instructions and ongoing maintenance.
Baltic Pine Weatherboards have remained a cost-effective option. Our Baltic Weatherboards come from sustainable, selective harvested natural forests in Scandinavia - meaning you’re sequestering your carbon the right way.
For those who want to level up their pine weatherboard game, we offer Tru-Side H3 treated primed weatherboards. Tru-Side is a natural wood product harvested from certified New Zealand forests. The H3 treatment delivers a longer lasting pine weatherboard better suited to outdoor applications.
The timber is a premium quality finger joined pine with a clean surface and minimal to no knots. The result is less splits during installation than traditional pine weatherboards. Tru-Side is available in two profiles – Square Edge and Bullnose. Barwon Timber stocks the square edge profile.
Tru-Side H3 treated pine weatherboards are primed with two coats of Dulux primer. Claymark offer a 25 year limited warranty against termite attack, rot and fungal decay. Ensure you read the installation guide and the links to the manufacturer’s warranty conditions prior to selecting Tru-Side weatherboards.
For our timber connoisseurs we stock Cedar weatherboards. Cedar weatherboards were extremely popular with our customers on the Surf coast and the Great Ocean Road for years. There are many homes in these areas clad with cedar weatherboards supplied by Barwon Timber in these areas.
Cedar is renowned for its natural beauty and durability. Cedar is lightweight and dimensionally stable. Given its weight, Cedar is a popular choice for timber clad garage doors. The only downside to Cedar… the cockatoos love it.
When you want to build the house that’s going to stand out and last a long, long, long time – choose our rough sawn Spotted Gum weatherboards.
The rough sawn face of our weatherboards create a unique and tactile aesthetic. Spotted Gum is a BAL29 rated timber specie and may comply with Bushfire Attack Level requirements. This weatherboard looks fantastic once it greys off or homeowners can continue to apply a tint to them.
