Barwon Timber’s MDF sheets (also known as craftwood or fibron) offer a uniform, smooth surface perfect for interior projects requiring a flawless finish. Made from finely compressed wood fibres, MDF is denser and more consistent than particleboard or plywood, with no knots or grain to interfere with cutting, machining, or painting.
Uniform Composition: Made from refined wood fibres fused with resin, creating a panel that is entirely consistent with no knots, grains, or voids.
Perfectly Smooth Surface: Provides an exceptionally smooth and flat face, making it an ideal substrate for painting, veneering, or laminating.
Excellent Machinability: Can be easily cut, drilled, routed, and carved to create detailed profiles, shapes, and decorative elements without splintering.
Dimensional Stability: Less prone to expansion, contraction, or warping compared to solid wood when exposed to minor humidity changes in interior environments.
Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) sheets, also referred to as craftwood or fibron, are a reconstituted wood panel product.
MDF is a dry-processed fibreboard manufactured from wood fibres, as opposed to particles and veneers, and is denser than particleboard and plywood. MDF has an even density throughout and is smooth on both sides.
MDF is available in a wide range of sizes and thicknesses.
It is primarily used for internal use applications including panelling doors, shelving, partitions, furniture and joinery. MDF can be painted, machined, cut and drilled without chipping or splintering.
Barwon Timber stocks 2400 x 1200mm MDF sheets in the following thicknesses:
3mm, 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 16mm & 18mm
