Discover the practical versatility of particle board, an engineered wood product that delivers reliable performance for a wide range of interior applications. Perfect for shelving, cabinetry, built-in furniture, and substrate work, particle board offers a uniform, stable surface that resists warping and shrinking. With its smooth finish and consistent density, it provides an excellent base for laminates, veneers, and paints, making it the go-to choice for budget-conscious projects that demand quality results.
Exceptional Cost-Effectiveness: It is one of the most affordable sheet materials available, making it an economical choice for budget-conscious projects where cost is a primary driver.
Smooth and Uniform Surface: Provides a consistent, flat surface that is ideal for applying veneers, laminates, or melamine foils, creating a perfect substrate for furniture and cabinetry.
Lightweight and Easy to Handle: Generally lighter than MDF or plywood of the same thickness, which simplifies transport, handling, and on-site manoeuvring.
Good Screw-Holding Capacity: When used with the correct fasteners and techniques, it provides sufficient holding power for many non-structural applications like shelving and cabinet boxes.
Particleboard, also known as chip board, is an engineered wood product which is manufactured from wood particles and synthetic resins.
Common particleboard applications include furniture, veneer substrates and cupboards. Structural grade particleboard is primarily used for internal flooring and features tongue and groove joins for easy installation. Structural grade particleboard can also be used for other load-bearing applications in dry conditions.
When using particleboard for applications in wet areas or spaces with high-relative humidity, it is recommended to use a moisture resistant (MR) board.
Particleboard can also be ordered as a shelving product in the following thicknesses:
12mm, 16mm, 18mm & 25mm
