Shou Sugi Ban is created using an ancient Japanese technique that involves charring the surface of the timber with fire. Applying the fire treatment not only gives it a unique and striking appearance, but also creates an additional barrier of protection against insect attack and decay. The fire treatment also increases the species’ overall durability, making it suitable for residential and commercial projects.
We sell and recommend Hurford’s Shou Sugi Ban cladding. The timber selected by Hurford’s is ethically sourced and processed by their locally owned and operated facility in Queensland.
