Particleboard, also known as chip board, is an engineered wood product which is manufactured from wood particles and synthetic resins.

Particleboard at Barwon Timber

Common particleboard applications include furniture, veneer substrates and cupboards. Structural grade particleboard is primarily used for internal flooring and features tongue and groove joins for easy installation. Structural grade particleboard can also be used for other load-bearing applications in dry conditions.

When using particleboard for applications in wet areas or spaces with high-relative humidity, it is recommended to use a moisture resistant (MR) board.

What standard size is particleboard available in?

Particleboard is available in a range of standard sizes including 1800 x 600 x 18mm and 3600 x 450 x 18mm. Particleboard flooring is available in 1800 x 900 x 19mm and features tongue and groove joins for easy installation.

Is particleboard flooring waterproof?

No, particleboard flooring is not waterproof. It can be stored onsite for up to 5 months before being installed.

What is the coating on my particleboard? Can I remove it?

Particleboard features a wax coating. This coating can be sanded off.
