Timber floors are easy to clean and maintain by following a few easy guidelines:
- Use dirt trapping mats at all exterior doors to minimise dirt and grit. Sweep or vacuum regularly with a soft bristle head.
- For stains and spills, use cleaning products that are approved for timber floors. Avoid over wetting a floor when mopping by ensuring mops and cloths are well wrung. We do not recommend using steam mops for cleaning timber floors.
- Fit protective pads to the base of chairs and tables to help prevent scuff marks. If you have furniture with castors, use barrel castors rather than ball castors.
- Move rugs regularly to protect the floor from direct sunlight.
- Avoid high-heeled shoes that can dent the floor’s surface.
