The sashigane itself retains exceptional characteristics, featuring a completely flat body, a matte chrome finish, and legible millimetre increments precisely printed on both the front and back surfaces of each arm for consistent and accurate measurements.

This allows the tool to function as a vernier caliper for precise stock thickness measurements and imparts enhanced accuracy during layout operations.
